Bureau of Engineering Groundbreaking for Mid-City Greenways Project
On Tuesday, July 15, personnel from the Bureau of Engineering, the Department of Transportation, and Council District 5 broke ground on the Mid-City Greenways Project. The project will promote bicycle riding, calm traffic, and install wayfinding signage along 4.5 miles of two strategically chosen neighborhood corridors in Hollywood and Mid-City. The northbound/southbound paths will connect the Metro Hollywood and Highland Red Line station to the future La Brea Metro Purple Line Station on the eastbound/westbound bike path. The project will also update traffic signals to assist and protect bicycle riders.

Joining Chief Deputy City Engineer Deborah Weintraub to put shovels in the ground were Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky, LADOT General Manager Laura Rubio-Cornejo, LAUSD Community Engagement Manager Rachel Sherman, and Abundant Housing LA Director of Policy and Research Scott Epstein.
