L.A. Board of Public Works Welcomes

The City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works Commissioners recently attended the LASAN—Beyond OnBoarding—Operational New Hires event at the Environmental Learning Center at the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant. The event welcomed new employees, thanked them for their service, and emphasized the vital role they play in maintaining the city’s infrastructure and environmental sustainability.

During the visit, the Board of Public Works Commissioners expressed their gratitude for the dedication of LASAN’s new team members and underscored the bureau’s critical contributions to the health, safety, and well-being of Angelenos. As stewards of essential services—ranging from wastewater management and stormwater solutions to environmental protection and sanitation—LASAN employees help shape a cleaner, more sustainable Los Angeles.

“The work you do every day is indispensable,” the commissioners shared. “Public Works is the backbone of our city, ensuring that residents have access to clean water, efficient waste management, and resilient infrastructure. We are here to support you as you embark on this important journey.”

The Beyond OnBoarding program goes beyond traditional orientation by equipping new hires with hands-on knowledge of LASAN’s operations, reinforcing the city’s commitment to professional growth and workforce excellence. By fostering a culture of collaboration and public service, the program helps ensure that Los Angeles remains a leader in environmental stewardship and urban innovation.

The Board of Public Works continues to champion the efforts of LASAN and all city employees who work tirelessly to serve the community. Their presence at this event reaffirms the city’s investment in its workforce and its mission to build a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient Los Angeles.
