The Board of Public Works recognized the completion of the fifth year of the Los Angeles Small Business Academy. Three recent graduates of the academy, who run small businesses in the non-construction/personal services field, spoke at the February 13th Board of Public Works meeting. They shared their experiences and the valuable information received. Tetra Tech was also recognized for their support of the academy, which is a collaborative effort of the Department of Public Works, Department of Water and Power, Los Angeles World Airports and Port of Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Small Business Academy, created in 2014, is a nine-session course to engender the growth, sustainability, and success of small business enterprises through the provision of courses that provide direct information and insight about contracting opportunities, marketing, financing, insuring and working on design-build and other future City of Los Angeles projects.
