In May we also celebrated Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM). Since its proclamation in 2006 by President George W. Bush, Jewish American Heritage Month captures the significant contributions by Jewish Americans. With a vibrant and vast history in the United States, Jewish Americans echo the stories of resilience and hope of the Jewish people. For generations, Jewish people have enriched many aspects of American life in education, science, government, and much more.
In honor of Jewish American heritage month, the Board of Public Works would like to thank employees from each Bureau and Board Office of Jewish American heritage, as they make our city a great place to call home. Learn more about the history of Jewish Americans by visiting a Jewish Historical Museum (Museum of Tolerance, 9786 W. Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, 90035), listen to a Jewish podcast, or read Jewish literature. Shalom.
