In the Green New Deal, Mayor Garcetti announced a goal to plant 90,000 trees by the end of 2021. I’m happy to share the news that as of April 30, 2020 we have planted 30,301 trees, a third of the way toward our goal. We are working with all City departments, Council Offices and our nonprofit partners to plan and prioritize tree planting projects, but we also need help from members of the public. Be involved in the City’s tree goal by requesting a FREE street tree for your parkway and up to seven FREE trees for private property. Request your free trees today through the City Plants program funded by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
