Meet Jan. She is an Environmental Affairs Officer who has been with the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering for nine years. She has more than 20 years of experience in the environmental field related to planning, environmental review, and permitting complex public infrastructure projects.
Prior to joining BOE, Dr. Jan Green Rebstock worked at the Port of Los Angeles, serving as the Port Sustainability Liaison and managing the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review processes for waterfront redevelopment and goods movement facilities. One of her most notable projects was the LA Waterfront, a $1.5 billion construction program covering over 500 acres in San Pedro and Wilmington. In this role, she managed consulting teams and contracts totaling more than $10 million. She also served on the West Coast Ports Technical Committee, publishing sustainable design and construction guidelines for the port industry.
In the past, Jan worked as a policy analyst, public involvement specialist, and environmental consultant. Jan received her doctorate in Policy, Planning and Development from the Price School at the University of Southern California.
Currently Jan manages the environmental review and permitting process for LA River projects, many Measure W projects, and some municipal facilities projects. Sample projects include the LA River Ecosystem Restoration Project EIR/EIS, Sixth Street Viaduct PARC EIR, Silver Lake Reservoir Complex Master Plan EIR, LA Zoo Vision Plan EIR, and the Citywide Cat Program EIR. She enjoys being involved in major projects that improve our community.
